GOOD ON YOU CATE!
OSCAR-winning actor Cate Blanchett has been nick-named Cate Blanket after stepping out in a colourful crochet patchwork dress to open Screen Worlds at ACMI in Melbourne last week.
"Cate is a real supporter of avant garde fashion ... let's face it, she would look good in a tea cosy or a toilet roll. Designer and Project Runway Australia mentor Henry Roth gave Blanchett a "gold star" for being imaginative and different. "I love the play of texture with this one-shoulder red-carpet silhouette, featuring hem, bodice and sleeve flounces that was all over the New York runways," Roth said
Those wanting to buy their own Blanchett blanket dress look are out of luck, however. Ms Plunkett said yesterday that the piece was a one-off dress created for their Australian Fashion Week show earlier this year and it would not be going into production.

However at Threads & More, why not join one of our many Crochet classes and we can help you learn the Granny square used to create this dress.
