Christmas Advent - Surprise #4

December 4: It’s now only three weeks till Christmas – how are your preparations going? Are you stuck for ideas for what to buy the crafters in your life? The next couple of days may well bring you some joy. We have our beautiful wonderballs featured today, and when you purchase online or in store, you will receive a complimentary pattern to knit up a simple yet striking bolero designed by Parisa Roohipour just for us at Threads. We haven’t discounted the Wonderball – we think that at $25 each they are perfect value: what with enough yarn for two scarves, or a wrap or bolero; and then all those trinkets – it really IS the gift that keeps on giving.

The Wonderball: Different yarns of many colours & lengths are hand tied together to create a surprise yarn ball of wool blends, textures, cotton, interlaced with surprises, such as, ribbons; stitch markers; miniature crochet toys; mini pin cushions and other wonderful bits and bobs. Popular in the 1800's, the wonder ball was traditionally given as a gift at Christmas - as the person knit, small trinkets and surprises would fall from the ball. The wonderball embodies the spirit of giving, as the gift continues to reveal presents and the knitter produces a lasting gift of either a scarf or wrap.
