Christmas Advent Surprise #7

What a weekend – the shop was full of wonderful friends of Threads yesterday as they convened the final 2009 Coven [our monthly get-together of a group of knitters to meet with Rian Anderson – our ‘white witch’ of knitting to share, learn, knit and knatter] and alongside a group of ladies learning the art of felting with Marion Douglas & to top it off, there were some pretty yummy smells coming from the cafe as Patrick added some fineese to our lunchtime platters with pesto crumbed mushrooms and ‘the works’ burgers – not to mention the preparation of today’s yummy baked treats in homage to Christmas. Which leads me to today’s surprise ... something to whet the appetite both crafty and gastronomic.

December 7: A few months ago we were able to grab a few bolts of some ‘too sweet’ Japanese 100% cotton and 100% linen. Nothing to do with knitting, crochet or felting, but we just couldn’t resist the cute little French girls and lovely little bunny prints – and now we would like to share them with you. Today online and in store we have fat quarters of these beautiful fabrics 10% off, plus if you buy a sampler set of fat quarters you will receive 15% discount .. AND just because we love it, we have grabbed cute free pattern from one of our favourite blogs The Purl Bee for the cutest vintage frog softie to give you inspiration as to what to create with your new fabric. The little frog reminds me of my girl guide days when we made these to complete our sewing badge! I’m making one for each of my boys and also for nieces and nephews [i’ll post the finished froggie family onto the blog just as soon as ...]. This offer is available until midnight on the 8th December 2009.

And to sustain you through all your busy crafting activities this time of year, come visit us in store for some complimentary vanilla shortbread, or, make some yourself using the recipe we found on another of our favourite sites: Nigella Lawson! Happy days!
